We want to introduce four Western Surety head office personnel, some of whom have been re-ordering their positions this year to ensure smooth service for brokers.

Jennifer

Jennifer Campbell has returned from maternity leave (new daughter Brooklyn joins older brother Carson back home). Congratulations to Jennifer and her insurance broker husband, Shawn.

She returns to her position as Executive Assistant to President/CEO Scott Donald and General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer Paul Bourassa. Jennifer also handles incoming calls for the head office – our “first responder” for inquiries.

Jennifer holds a Certificate in Office Education and is a 12-year veteran of the firm.

“Life is busy,” she says, and we’re not surprised.

Kelly

Kelly Sluth has been covering Jennifer’s job during maternity leave, and now returns to assisting Underwriter Lex Kress in Commercial Surety.

As a Surety Assistant, Kelly’s work includes start-to-finish service for smaller accounts, including approvals, documentation and dealing directly with brokers.

She started work with Western Surety in 2002. (This year is the second time she has covered a maternity leave for Jennifer.)

Kelly is a former broker herself, and believes that experience serves her well today – “It helps me to understand what brokers need and to provide better service,” she says.

Kelly also holds a Certificate in Office Education.

Kyle

Kyle Gibson has returned to Western Surety for his third – and last – summer.

This fall he’ll be returning to his final year of a Business Administration degree majoring in Finance and Accounting, and graduating next spring.

“Numbers have always been my kind of thing,” says Kyle. So has hard work, apparently, because every summer for the last four years he’s worked through the entire four-month summer break. We suspect he’ll want to take a real celebration break after his graduation in 2012!

At Western Surety he has covered for employees on their summer vacations, and focused on data entry and helping with the heavier summer workloads that occur in the construction season.

Joanne

The only administrative staff person not changing anything this year is Joanne Gartner.

So we asked her about the changes she has seen in work and broker service for the 31 years she’s worked at Western Surety – where she is our Clerical Supervisor handling communication with brokers on documentation.

The key change Joanne sees over the years is the firm’s continuous adoption of new office technology, so that accuracy increases and service turnaround keeps getting faster.

“We’re always tweaking things,” Joanne says, and the result is the “night and day difference” she sees occurring as service delivery has been upgraded year by year.

Joanne holds a Certificate in Public Relations.
