110th Anniversary Charity Donations

2019 marks the 110th anniversary of Western Surety Company. This special anniversary provides an opportunity to not only continue to share the stories about our people and the work that we do, but it is also an opportunity to give back to our communities.

In recognition of Western Surety Company’s 110 years of operation and honouring the year established, Scott Donald, WSC’s President and CEO, is pleased to announce that over the course of this year, the company will make three special donations in the amount of $1,909 to charities across the country devoted to improving the lives of under-privileged children. At the end of the year, there will also be a $2,019 donation made to a Saskatchewan based recipient, the province in which Western Surety’s head office has been located since 1909.

“In this special anniversary year, we wanted to give back to those in our community, in particular those organizations that are committed to making a difference in the lives of under privileged children and in this case ‘inspired’ by the needs of Indigenous children,” says Donald. “I am pleased to announce that the first organization to receive the award is Indspire, selected by our colleagues in the WSC Toronto office.”

Since 2004, Indspire has awarded nearly $100 million in scholarships and bursaries to more than 32,000 Indigenous students across Canada. Through our charitable donation, Western Surety Company is proud to acknowledge the important work of Indspire and the significant impact they are making in the Indigenous community.

In future e-zines, Western Surety will announce the other recipients of our 110th anniversary charitable donations.
