Western Surety E-Services: Flexibility and Function

Western Surety’s E-Services platform was designed with brokers in mind. We realize that last minute changes will happen and that information may need to be entered differently than originally planned. E-Services has the flexibility to allow users to make changes to bond requests even after they have already been submitted. This is just one of the many benefits that the platform has to offer.

How to edit a bond?

After logging into the broker section of our website (www.westernsurety.ca), select “Edit Recently Issued Bonds” from the Quick Links section on the left side of the page. Brokers are then able to re-enter the bond page and change any information as needed. The broker will then hit save and the changes made will be reflected back to Western Surety. This function is active for up to 72 hours after the original submission. If the notification “there are no bonds available to edit” appears, it is likely that the 72 hour period has elapsed. At that point we recommend simply contacting the assigned Underwriter and they will gladly assist you with making the necessary changes.

How to add a new Obligee?

If the obligee is new and has never been previously used on our portal before, it is easy for brokers to add them to the system. Click “Issue New Contract Bond” then select the type of bond. From there, select “search” next to obligee and then “add a new obligee”. At that point it will ask for the information of the new obligee such as name and address. You will then be asked to confirm the accuracy of both the name and address as well as requirements of standard CCDC bond wording. Once the new obligee is used it will be stored in the system and this process will not have to be repeated when using them next time.

Searching for an obligee is also an option. Type the name or any keywords into the search box and a list will appear allowing you to then select the right one. All federal and provincial obligees are already in our system but if you are unable to find the one you are looking for, please contact our office.

Trouble Shooting

If you have an issue of any kind, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to walk you through the problem. Please keep in mind that data entered and saved in the portal is directly sent to the assigned underwriter for the account. This gives us the ability to not only respond quickly to urgent requests but to also enter or follow-up on any missing information. Remember to also keep us informed of any staffing changes that would necessitate revisions to current Powers of Attorney and/or those with E-Services access.

Our E-services platform is simple, quick, and accurate but as mentioned earlier, also flexible. We’d like to thank our brokers currently using E-services. For those who are not, we once again encourage you to check it out and/or discuss E-services with any one of our underwriters.
